On December 31, 1999, my family didn’t know what to do with me, and a friend phoned my parents and told them about Puente House. My brother paid for my first month there and my friend delivered me. It was raining and cold that day; I’ll never forget it. Puente House will always hold a special place in my heart! The 6 months I spent there were some of the best of my life! I learned so much from my sobriety sisters and brothers. Thanks to Karl, Earl, Marsha, Kat and all my PH family for loving me when I was unlovable! The foundation I received at PH still helps me to this day! Now I’m living in Prague, Czech Republic and was just offered a job with a school as an English teacher! I’m also extremely blessed and grateful for Puente House. ~ Leslie J.
If your son has a problem with drugs and/or alcohol I highly recommend that you give The Puente House a call. They have two homes for men which offer men a second chance at life. Puente House provides a well structured, disciplined, and safe environment and a chance to learn how to really live life again, free of drugs and alcohol. I know, because I was one of those men who found hope and deliverance in this program. Please give them a chance! ~ Steve K.
2-7-96 was when my life began. I spent the first four and a half years of my sobriety involved in Puente House. It led me to AA, and a life worth living. 14 years later and I still miss being involved with them. I am forever grateful for the friends and family I have made along the way. May God continue to bless the houses and those who come seeking sobriety. ~ Katherine M.
It is hard to believe that it’s been almost 13 years since I was broken down, rock bottom, lost and with nowhere to turn. That’s when I ran into Mr. Karl Moris and found The Puente House. He took me into his program. I spent my first year in that house there on Badillo St. At first I spent every minute I could find in any meeting I could find, afraid to go anywhere or to talk to anyone. I found myself on a path knowing that there was more to life than just drinking and drugging, lying and stealing. Every day I know that if I didn’t find Karl and the Puente House, I would be face down in a gutter or in Jail. Thank you. ~ Michael B.
Today I celebrate my 3rd sobriety birthday. As I quietly reflect on the past few years of my life, it dawns on me that all the wonderful things that I feel so grateful for would not have been possible had I not spent time at Puente House. The support and guidance I received while living there has provided me with a very blessed life today. Puente House directed me to AA, where I discovered so much about myself. It is with much pride and a greater self respect that I want to thank Karl and Puente House for giving me that life beyond my wildest dreams. Shari B.
11 years sober today. Will never forget where I came from. Puente House took me to AA; AA took me to goodness. Now I have a way to live that I never dreamed was possible. Thanks Puente House. ~ Paul G.
