Structured Sober Living

Structured Sober Living Homes in Covina, CA

Welcome to Puente House, where structure meets soul. If you’re searching for a sober living house that’s more than just a crash pad with rules, you’re in the right place. I’m Karl Moris, your friendly neighborhood founder, and I built Puente House to offer a real recovery experience, one rooted in structure, community, and forward momentum.

Here, you won’t just find a roof over your head, you’ll find rhythm in your days, purpose in your efforts, and people who hold you accountable because they care. From our men’s homes to our women’s homes, we provide real structure: curfews, chores, random testing, house meetings, and above all, respect for the process.

Located in Covina and serving folks across Los Angeles County, from Glendora to El Monte and Pasadena to West Covina, we’ve made structured sober living both accessible and transformative. Whether you’re fresh out of treatment or just ready to level up your recovery game, you’ll feel at home here.

What Structured Sober Living Means

Structure doesn’t mean boot camp. It means building habits that stick. At Puente House, you’ll experience:

  • Daily routines that promote accountability
  • House rules that reinforce discipline without shame
  • Random drug testing to keep the environment safe
  • Regular house meetings that give everyone a voice

Gender-Specific Sober Living That Works

We offer separate homes for men and women because we recognize that recovery isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach.

Our men’s homes are built around brotherhood, responsibility, and mutual respect, no ego, just growth.

Our women’s homes prioritize safety, structure, and sisterhood, with boundaries that support healing rather than stress. In both houses, you’ll find real talk, regular check-ins, and roommates who show up for each other.

Local Support + Real Recovery Community

Covina and the greater San Gabriel Valley are stacked with recovery resources. Whether you’re hitting a Big Book study at the Covina Alano Club, attending SMART Recovery, or just meeting your sponsor for coffee at Bad Ass Coffee on Citrus Ave, you’ll always be within reach of connection.

There are speaker meetings, women’s and men’s groups, outdoor meditations, and everything in between. If you’re ready to plug into the recovery world, Puente House puts you in the middle of it.

Structure + Flexibility = Real Life Prep

We believe structure should support your life, not suffocate it. So while we have curfews, rules, and routines, we also support:

  • Job interviews
  • School schedules
  • Volunteer work
  • Outpatient appointments

We’ll work with you to ensure your recovery plan accommodates your real-world goals. Heading back to school at Citrus College? Working a night shift in Baldwin Park? We’ve got you.

Employment Support + Life Skills Development

Finding and keeping a job in early recovery can be tough. We help make it easier. We’ll assist with:

  • Resume writing and printing
  • Interview prep
  • Getting to and from work or interviews
  • Budgeting and goal-setting

We’ve had residents go from day labor to full-time tradesmen, baristas to small business owners, and everywhere in between. The support doesn’t stop at the front door. We’re here to help you succeed outside it, too.

Frequently asked questions

Is Puente House a good fit if I’ve never done sober living before?

Yes. In fact, our structured model is ideal for people brand-new to sober living. We give you the support and direction you need while allowing room to grow.

Do I need to be in a 12-step program?

We’re a 12-step-based program of recovery and encourage participation.

What makes Puente House different from other sober living homes?

We’re real people who’ve been through it. We’re affordable, structured, and focused on community, not profits. And we’re local. Karl’s not a corporate suit; he’s your neighbor with a truck and a coffee addiction.

Is there a curfew?

Yes, and it’s reasonable. Our goal isn’t to control you; it’s to help you create healthy habits. Plus, nothing good ever happens after midnight, right?

Can I have visitors or overnight guests?

Visitors, yes, with approval and within certain hours. Overnight guests? Nope. That’s a boundary we hold firm for everyone’s safety and recovery.
