Affordable Sober Living in Los Angeles County
If you landed on this page while sipping sweet tea and wondering how to stay clean without going broke in the process, I salute you. You’ve either got impeccable timing, great taste in sober living homes, or a guardian angel who knows how to work Google. Either way, welcome. I’m Karl Moris, the owner of Puente House Sober Living right here in the San Gabriel Valley.
I built Puente House for folks like us, people who’ve been through some storms and are ready to rebuild without mortgaging their future to do it. I’ve walked the road of addiction and recovery myself, and let me tell you, it isn’t easy, but it’s worth it. Especially when you can do it in a place that feels like home, costs less than a luxury apartment in Pasadena, and comes with a community that genuinely understands.
Here at Puente House, we offer affordable, structured sober living for men and women who are serious about recovery but don’t have a Hollywood budget. Our homes are based in Covina, but we serve the entire Los Angeles County, from Glendora to Baldwin Park, and from Azusa to Duarte. If you’re looking for sober housing after rehab that’s grounded, local, and built with heart, keep reading.
What Affordable Sober Living Cost Means
Affordable sober living at Puente House means a clean, supportive environment without high costs. We offer:
-A safe, sober transitional house for after rehab
-Peer support and accountability
-Easy access to work, meetings, and local amenities
It’s a place to focus on recovery and rebuild your life with encouraging housemates.
Men’s and Women’s Sober Living Homes in Los Angeles County
We run separate sober living homes for men and women to reduce distractions in early recovery. Our men’s homes foster brotherhood and responsibility, while our women’s homes prioritize safety and empowerment. Both encourage open communication and regular check-ins.
Structured Recovery Support
We believe structure is essential for early recovery. Curfews, chores, random drug testing, and weekly house meetings help create a rhythm that fosters resilience. We also prioritize flexibility. If you have a job interview at Plaza West Covina or are returning to school at Citrus College, we’re here to support you. We aim to uplift you, not confine you.
Local Recovery Community Access
Covina and the San Gabriel Valley have no shortage of recovery resources. From AA meetings at the Covina Alano Club to outpatient programs at Kaiser Permanente, you’ll never be more than a few blocks from support.
There are speaker meetings, book studies, SMART Recovery groups, Celebrate Recovery options, and even some off-the-grid men’s and women’s groups that meet in the local parks. Whatever your recovery flavor is, you’ll find your people here.
Employment Support and Real-World Readiness
One of the most common stressors in early sobriety is regaining financial stability. We help you find work, stay employed, and create a routine that makes sense. We’re close to job-rich areas like Baldwin Park, Glendora, and Irwindale. Need a ride to an interview or a place to print a resume? Just ask.
Many of our residents find employment in retail, restaurants, trades, or remote work. Some even start their own businesses, one guy started a landscaping service and now has three crews. We cheer for wins around here, big or small.
Flexible Lengths of Stay and Long-Term Options
After you conclude the admissions process and move in, you may wonder how long people stay at our homes. Some people stay for 30 days, while others stay for a year or more. It depends on your goals, your situation, and your willingness to take action. We’re not in a hurry to push you out the door, and we won’t leave you hanging when you’re ready for the next steps. Our alumni network is strong, and many of our former residents still pop in for meetings, BBQs, and to share their stories.
Frequently asked questions
Is Puente House really affordable compared to other sober living homes?
Yes. We intentionally keep our rates below the average in the San Gabriel Valley. With the help of our foundation, we can keep the rates lower. You’ll get structure, support, and safety without paying luxury rehab prices. Our price is $800/month.
Do I need to be in a 12-step program?
We’re a 12-step-based program of recovery and encourage participation.
What makes Puente House different from other sober living homes?
We’re real people who’ve been through it. We’re affordable, structured, and focused on community, not profits. And we’re local. Karl’s not a corporate suit; he’s your neighbor with a truck and a coffee addiction.
Is there a curfew?
Yes, and it’s reasonable. Our goal isn’t to control you; it’s to help you create healthy habits. Plus, nothing good ever happens after midnight, right?
What if I don’t know anyone in Covina?
You will. Fast. Between meetings, BBQs, and daily check-ins, you’ll find your people here quicker than you can say “step work.”
