The annual Puente House golf tournament was a smashing success. On October 6, a beautiful Sunday afternoon, 72 golfers showed up with bags and clubs in hand, ready to have fun and compete for the grand prize: an all expenses paid trip to Turks and Caicos. A cluster of 40 islands, 8 of which are inhabited, Turks and Caicos is located 550 southeast of Miami. The winning ticket, purchased by Roque Dominguez, was pulled by Ryan and Madison Moris. (Yes, Karl is their proud father!) Steve Abrams of Sober Vacations, International, donated this extravagant getaway, valued over $2800.
After a day on the green, a total of 90 people purchased tickets to the banquet. The underwriter for the dinner and golf tournament was Floyd Jones from Seattle, WA. His generosity allowed Puente House Foundation to raise $10,000. Karl Moris, founder of Puente House and Executive Director of Sober Living Network, was overwhelmed with gratitude for the turnout. “ The generosity of people who purchased tickets, and donors like Steve Abrams and Floyd Jones cannot be underestimated. This is how lives are saved. I am very pleased with the turnout and the results of this event.”
Although Roque won an amazing getaway, hundreds of suffering addicts and alcoholics who cannot afford treatment, are also victors. This benefit provides funding for the less fortunate, who now have the opportunity to enter Puente House. By providing a safe place to live and introducing these men and women to the 12 steps, there are many winners as a result of this tournament. Let’s keep that in mind for next year!!
